We, at RE/MAX Parkside Real Estate, believe in giving back to our community. We are putting together our 15th “Back to School Shopping Spree” for under privileged children in the North County area. Our agents and office will be donating funds to buy school clothes. We work with the schools and local service organizations who nominate local families. We are sponsoring 115 children, age 5-12 for a shopping trip at Target. Each of our agents, in addition to donating money, will take the child shopping for $125 worth of clothing needs and shoes.
Our aim is to help these children and give them a memorable time. We bring the RE/MAX hot air balloon in that morning. Each child will have a free tethered ride in the balloon. Each agent will be escorting a child shopping. The children also receive a backpack full of school supplies and dental products.
How can you help? This year we are sponsoring a food collection to give the families a bag of food. We are looking for specific items, rice, cereal, tuna, peanut butter, dry milk, dried beans, and pasta. We are reaching out to the community to donate these items. They can be dropped off at the RE/MAX Parkside office on 12th Street. Click Here to Give
How else can you help? Due to the number of children and the fact that each child will be accompanied from start to finish, we look for volunteers to be there that morning and participate either by taking a child shopping or other supporting staff. Due to the number of Spanish speaking parents, Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially needed. You can go to UpWithKids.org or call 591-5348. Click here to Help
We are also in need of monetary contributions to help cover the cost of the backpacks, school supplies and shoes. There is a benefit account set up at Wells Fargo Bank. Checks can be made payable to Up With Kids. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible! Click here to Give
This year we added Scholarships to Liberty High School, Independent Study and Del Rio High School. We were very excited to be able to offer an opportunity to help our high school students and assist in furthering their education. It was a very rewarding experience to see the excitement of these young people. We hope you can help this year!
